Interview with Blogger & Coach Alessandra Esse from The Next Metric

Alessandra Esse from The Next Metric

This jolly girl in the photo is Alessandra Esse, an Italian who lives in Sweden. As you can see from her photo above, she transmits a lot of positivity and good vibes.

Alessandra is a blogger and a coach at The Next Metric. She helps women who have reached a turning point in their life, believe in themselves and achieve their highest and most important goals.

Being a strong believer in personal changes, she first has applied all the techniques she knows to herself obtaining amazing results. Leveraging this knowledge, she is able to guide her clients in the process of achieving anything they want.

In her spare time she enjoys her family, doing yoga, reading and writing.

Alessandra, why did you start blogging?

I’m a blogger and a coach. I started volunteering as a coach many years ago for an international association that helps women start over with their life.
Not every woman though. Only the ones that have had a very difficult past and don’t have money to pay for professional help.

These women bring their personal story in the coaching process. Very often a sad one. Still, they have the strength and the willpower to move past and start over. They are committed and they have hope and faith. It’s always amazing to see how they evolve in the coaching process to reach their goals.
I have learned so much from them. At some point, I felt the need to share this special experience with a bigger audience. I wanted to share the true and firm believe that it is possible to change. That age is not a limit to start over.

I was also going through my own personal crisis at that point. I spent many years in IT as project manager. A job that didn’t make me happy anymore. And I was looking for my passion which I discovered (or rediscovered I should say) in reading and writing. So what better than a blog could represent the combination of my passion and my wish to share? 🙂

What are your favourite blogging tools of the trade?

Unsplash.com where I can find beautiful pictures for my blog; WordPress to manage my website, and my Mac with which I couldn’t live without. 🙂

But in general, I enjoy using whatever tool is needed. I like learning new things, even though I have to admit that sometimes the learning curve can be really steep and take way too much time. In that case, I try to find the work that other bloggers publish on the same tools. The blogging world is amazing. Bloggers support each other even when they don’t know each other 🙂

What blogger inspires you the most and why?

I love reading and watching Marie Forleo. She is sooo bubbly 🙂

There are moments where I wish I was like her! I’m not really that bubbly and outspoken. I tend to hide. It can be very difficult at times to get out there and show myself as I am.

But I’m working on it 🙂

How much time do you devote to blogging?

As much as I can, but I always wish I could dedicate more.

I try to have a weekly schedule and dedicate a couple of hours to it at least every day. Clearly, the schedule is not only about writing. There are many things to look after when you have a blog and writing is only one of it. I try to write every time I can. Also because writing is one of my deepest passions 🙂

What are your hobbies?

Reading and writing since I could make sense of words. I also like practicing yoga. Meeting friends is also a huge passion of mine. Not sure it can be listed as a “hobby” but spending time with them is refreshing. Working from home can be very lonely. Meeting them brings me back to reality.

What’s your dream job?

That’s a very good question. It took me a while to understand what was my dream job. I used to be a project manager in IT until one day I realised that it wasn’t what I really wanted for myself or for my future. So I decided to change. But changing to what???? About this, I had no clue. Honestly, I really had to look deep into myself to understand. And I had to be as honest as possible. I had to accept that all those years spent studying and trying to build a career were just past. That I had to turn page and start over if I really wanted to be happy.

My dream job is the one I’m doing right now. I love blogging and coaching. Helping people is amazing. It gives me hope and strength to continue pursuing my own dreams. Reading and writing have always been my passion. But I never thought of making a living out of it. I never thought about it or someone else made me not think about it. It’s incredible how most of the prejudices we have actually been inherited by someone else.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

Less shy!

As I wrote before I wish I could be like Marie Forleo 🙂

I have always been shy since I was a child. I have improved a lot growing up, but putting myself out there is still a bit scary. I tend to hide while I know I shouldn’t. I’m working on it. Every day I push myself a little more. I try small things that don’t come natural to me. One little step at the time. Thanks to my coaching, I’ve learnt a lot about myself too. I know what works with me and what doesn’t. Positive thinking and small steps are my best allies 🙂

What’s your favourite story?

Gone with the wind!!! “Tomorrow is another day” 🙂

It’s true, isn’t it? We can always start over. There is nothing written in stone. Tomorrow is a blank page waiting for us 🙂

What’s your main goal in life?

Grow my blog and coaching practice.

I would love to help as many people as possible, share my experience and fill fulfilled in my life.

What would you say to a blogger who’s just starting out?

It’s tough. Not gonna lie on this. It takes time and patience. There are days when you wonder whether it was the right choice. When you doubt yourself and your abilities. Hang in there! Doubting yourself is normal but if you did it for the right reasons, it will get better 🙂
