In this week’s interview, we have with us American blogger Kelly Akesson, founder of More than Pointless Chatter.
As you will see as you read, Kelly is a very optimistic and cheerful woman, and she has such an adorable family!
I hope you enjoy reading this interview as much as I did and don’t forget to visit Kelly’s blog and leave a comment below telling us what you think!
Why did you start blogging
I started blogging for many reasons. I have always loved reading, writing, sending cards, and sharing about things I love. There have been many encouragers in my life who have nudged me into starting a blog
I like that blogging allows connection with people, a great way to share about new and exciting joys in life, and an outlet for writing! I’ve taken an unexpected pause with blogging as we have been moving, and I am excited to dig back into it!
What are your favourite blogging tools of the trade?
I’m not quite sure I have
What bloggers inspire you the most and why?
Pete and Heather Reese at itsalovelylife.com have been inspirational to me! They have such a real, genuine approach to blogging as a lifestyle. They don’t mince words about the hard work that goes into it. But the opportunities and experiences make all the work worth it
I also have enjoyed Ruth Soukup, not for her blog as much as her podcast, Do It Scared. Wow. It is so incredibly encouraging to hear how other people pursue what they dream of. Hearing their stories of success and failure somehow give me permission to do the same.
How much time do you devote to blogging?
Currently, about 10 hours a week. My intention is to invest more time in the evenings when life is settling for the day. I will do what is necessary until it is normal for my life and becomes a habit. I love writing. Right now life is too hectic to know how much time I’m really putting into it. More time in the beginning always seems to pay off in the end.
What are your hobbies?
I still love spending time with my husband! We have only been married two years, and it seems as though we just don’t have time to spend together on dates, etc. So one of my

What’s your dream job?
Blogging! There is so much potential, opportunity and enjoyment in it! Once I become more confident in this new world of blogging, I will literally be living my dream!
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would have to say confidence. Maybe what I am really thinking is fear. I would like to be able to take risks and know that there is something worthy in all of it. Risks are not always bad. They are amazing and rewarding! I would like to face the unknown with confidence and determination!
What’s your favourite story?
What’s your main goal in life?
My main goal is to bring glory to God. I fail daily. I learn daily. I hope I am growing daily as well. Deciphering between selfishness and self-sacrifice is not easy, but is rewarding. Beyond that, I hope to bring encouragement to those in my small circle of influence.
What would you say to a blogger who’s just starting out?
Don’t be discouraged! Don’t give up! Don’t be overwhelmed by the amount of blogs out there. Your voice is different. From there, pursue what you hope to achieve. Continue to persevere and learn and grow. Reach out to others in the blogging world, I have found they are encouraging and helpful.
