Last Saturday night, my mum and I took the train to go to Barcelona. The reason? We had tickets to see the musical West Side Story at the Tívoli theatre. Yay! It was a birthday present from my brother and sister-in-law for my mum.
After having a latte, we went for a walk along the Passeig de Gràcia to Plaça Catalunya and the Portal de l’Àngel –some of the best shopping streets in Barcelona– to see the Christmas lights.
To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I saw the Christmas lights in Barcelona, but I was amazed to see them one more time!
After strolling through the shopping streets of Barcelona, we went to Casa Carmen for dinner, an elegant restaurant which I recommend –not only for the quality of the food, but also because it’s affordable– located just in front of the Tivoli theatre.
We had an appetiser with spicy potatoes (patatas bravas), small green peppers from Padrón, hummus, breaded calamari rings, and Iberian ham with bread with tomato (pa amb tomàquet). We also shared a Carmen’s hamburger and crisps.
To finish off the night, after dinner, we went to the Tivoli theatre, where we saw the famous musical West Side Story.
Since the film is SO good, I was afraid we wouldn’t enjoy the musical enough, but both my mum and I loved it! The actors sang and danced so beautifully, and the live orchestra was awesome.
