A few days ago, my mom asked me if I could download for her an old TV series from the 70s called Poldark. I didn’t know it, but then she told me that it became really popular at that time, and she was looking forward to watching it again. So I checked it out on the Internet, and I was surprised to know that a remake had been made in 2015!
So, yes, I felt that I needed to download the new one instead of the original one. Perhaps I thought that it would be better. Well… to be honest with you, I must admit that I was encouraged by the undeniable attractiveness of the main character, Ross Poldark, played by the super hot Irish actor Aidan Turner, who I didn’t know at that moment.
Poldark is a British costume drama based on the Poldark novels by Winston Graham. The story is set in the late 18th century Cornwall, when Captain Ross Poldark (Aidan Turner) returns home after American Revolutionary War. On his return, he finds that Elizabeth (Heida Reed)—the woman he had left behind three years ago—is engaged to his cousin Francis (Kyle Soller). He rescues Demelza (Eleanor Tomlinson) from a beating and takes her with him, and employs her as his kitchen maid.
‘He’s part Rochester, part Heathcliff, part Rhett Butler’, says Andrew Billen, British journalist and TV critic for The Times newspaper.
If you’re a fan of Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre like me, you’re definitely going to love Poldark!
