Thanksgiving: 4 Things I’m Grateful for This Year

We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving Day in Spain. I mean, not only is it not a Bank Holiday here, but we also don’t gather around a table with family and friends to thank for what we have.

But thanks to movies, here we’re very aware of this American celebration and I honestly wish we could celebrate it here in Europe, too. (Frankly, I’d rather celebrate Thanksgiving Day than Black Friday, which I believe is a purely capitalist invention.)

And since I can’t officially celebrate it, I don’t see why I can’t write a post about the things for which I’m grateful this year, and share it with y’all.

So here we go! This year, I’m grateful for:

  1. Being born in a privileged time and place in the world, where theoretically there are no wars and I can always have several hot meals a day. Sometimes, we don’t realize that this is — as Phil Collins said in his song — “another day for you and me in paradise.” (So true.)
  2. Having had the opportunity to learn English when I was younger. As a result, I got several jobs as a teacher of English as a foreign language and I can also write on my blog in the most popular language on the Internet.
  3. Being so lucky to share my life every day with the person I love most in this world, my beloved partner, David. He’s the joy of my life and I adore every single moment with him. 💕
  4. Having a family that has always supported me, despite having upset them so many times in my twenties — when I was rebellious as hell, I admit it. I showed them that I changed and they forgave me. Because they love me no matter what and I love them, too.
